What is Allergy?
Allergy is an exaggerated response of the immune system after exposure to allergen. When allergen enters in our body our immune system takes it as foreign particle and activates against this foriegn particle or allergen.Immune system starts to produce anti-bodies against this allergen. These anti-bodies and other components of immune system like macrophages and neutrophils surrounds the allergen to engulf it and kick-out from the body.
At this time certain inflammatory mediators are released due to this exaggerated immune response. These inflammatory mediators like histamine, leukotrienes and bradykinin cause inflammation, vasodilation (decrease in blood pressure) and bronchoconstriction (constriction of air-ways).
Allergy is common in almost all populations and it is difficult to get rid of from allergy forever because whenever we inhale, ingest or have topical contact with allergens they may cause allergy even if we have previously exposed to such allergens. So,best thing is to avoid from exposure of allergens.Symptoms of allergy are common in almost every patient with a slight difference due to age factors, environmental factors and genetic factors. Some, commonly reported symptoms of allergy are mentioned below
